Happy Tuesday everyone. Today is a short post... I just really wanted to share with you some tidbits from my daily life. As part of my 22 by 23 list, I want to start taking more pictures, + having these tidbits posts periodically will really help with that, I think. So take a peek into my life, dark chocolate and all.
Productivity

Stopping by to share a doodle I started last night and finished today. This isn't the finished product because that's a secret... along with a lot of things I'm working on right now. It's been feeling really good to be so productive lately, and I have a secret project and my own ambition to thank for that. I'm not usually a very motivated person, but lately I've been killin' it because I both want to and need to. I can't wait to share with you where this all is headed. Have a great Wednesday!
Here's to the Nights
This year I started this blog, moved to Arizona, lived in a studio apartment with Nicholas and Penny, turned 21, got an adorable niece, started my Society6 shop, had family visit us in AZ twice, experienced the Grand Canyon four times and got to hike it once, hand lettered quite a bit, hiked the most incredible Narrows you could ever imagine in Zion National Park, recorded a couple songs for fun with Nicholas, rode/drove in a car for over 30 hours so we could finally move back home, got a sweet nephew, started watching my niece part-time, joined a couple Skillshare classes that I love, hung out with my awesome friends that I dearly missed, finally got an iPhone, got a couple tattoos, received the coolest deer skull from Nicholas' mom after waiting a year for it, went apple picking and got donuts and cider with family like the years before, got engagement photos taken by our lovely wedding photographer, started doodling some more, enjoyed both Thanksgiving and Christmas with family, had some wonderful times and definitely some hard times, and had a year I never would have expected but totally needed.
Next year I have plans to finally start my own online shop, get into shape after years of struggling to find that balance, take more adventures and enjoy the outdoors more, plan our wedding, save money for a house and for life, see my friends more, draw and doodle more, take care of myself better every day, clean my room and rid myself of things I do not want or need, be more grateful, do more chores to help my mom without complaint, smile more, finally face my mental health and get help, live more simply, swim in Lake Michigan, kiss Nicholas (even) more, and overall find peace and balance for my mind, body, and soul.
Happy New Year, and may the odds be ever in your favor...
...but really, make 2014 a good one, make it count, let yourself be happy and find peace in all areas of your life where you need it.
Morning Light
This morning I decided to snap a couple shots of the sunlight coming through the lattice on our deck. It was so pretty. I talked recently about how I really love the sun and how it inspires me, and this morning it was just giving me really good feelings. I hope you're having a lovely Tuesday thus far.
Made My Day
So, I've recently had a few very awesome things happen to me, and I thought I'd share them with you because they've made my days. They haven't all happened in one day, but I'm just really thinking about them right now (because two of them actually did happen today) and I'm just really thankful for them all.
1) A couple weeks ago I got an email telling me I was a winner of a contest on one of my favorite blogs, Green Wedding Shoes. They had a contest to win a free box of Crest Whitestrips and a $50 Target gift card and I was one of the winners; how exciting! It's funny too, because I had just mentioned how I never win anything, ever. Low and behold, I've won something, and I can't say that anymore... but I'm not complaining. ;) I'm really excited, especially because I love Target.
2) Yesterday, while grocery shopping, a random lady came up to me and just said "You look really pretty." I was so taken aback. It was such a lovely thing to hear, especially from a stranger. It made me feel really good inside and made me thankful for the kind people who are still in this world, who are nice, and who are able to really make someone's day better with a kind gesture or just a few simple words.
3) I got an email today from iVillage telling me I was one of the winners of a contest to win a three month at-home membership from The Biggest Loser. Another contest that I won, you say? This can't be true! Well, they'll be contacting me next week for more information and to fill out some paperwork, so hopefully it all works out, but this is just crazy awesome anyway!
4) I was looking through blogs today, as I do almost every morning, and came across something that made my jaw drop. As I was scrolling through a "favorite pins" post on one of my favorite blogs, All Sorts of Pretty, I came across my most recent hand lettering! My jaw honestly dropped, I couldn't believe my eyes! What an amazing thing to come across. It was featured as her "favorite words pin" and I'm just really thankful. You can check out the post here. I'm so happy so many other people, including someone whose blog I really admire, enjoy that lettering of mine. I'm really glad people are liking what I'm creating. It's great to be able to connect with people in such a way. It's a truly amazing feeling.
So, these are just a few things that have happened in my life recently that have really made me smile, made me thankful, and have made my day. I hope you are all experiencing wonderful things, as well.
//Edit: Another thing that has made me happier today!
5) Just found out my lettering was posted on another blog! You can check it out here. It really has made me so happy to see people post and share that lettering or anything else I've created and shared myself. It's a very good feeling, as mentioned above, to know that there are people out there who like what you like and enjoy what you make, especially when that's what you want to do with your life. It's very reassuring.
