Words, words, words / 09

It's finally here! This is what I have been waiting to show you for a couple weeks now! I showed you a sneak peek a couple of weeks ago during the last hand-lettering column I posted, but this time it's the real deal. I hope you're as excited as I am. I made these for my sister Karen, who just had her first baby (and the first in the family!), my niece, Cora Mae.  She is the sweetest little baby, and I am so honored that I got to make these baby announcements for her. And I am sooo glad Karen loved them as much as I did. I really did work hard on them, and I truly am proud of the way they turned out. I hope you like them too!

Many, many weeks ago I started sketching up ideas for the design, and it finally settled on this one. There is a first draft that looks exactly like the first picture below, only it was a lot less clean. So, I redrew what I had originally drawn, transferred it to the computer, worked some magic, put it on a chalkboard background, and turned it into a cute little baby announcement. I can't say it enough how happy I am with how it turned out, and I really feel like my hard work shines through. Again, I'm so pleased I got to do this for my sister and my niece, and I look forward to many more projects for my family in the future. I'm hoping I can con my other sister, Marie, who is also pregnant currently (woohoo!) into letting me make her baby announcements too. :)

Okay, seriously. Is she not the most precious thing? I can't get over it. I miss her so much, and I can't wait to hold her again when I get to go home!! Anyway, I hope you like this week's column as much as I do, and that you have a wonderful weekend!

"Words, words, words" is a weekly hand lettering column in which I share some goodies hand-lettered by me for your enjoyment! You can check out previous posts here!

I acquired the chalkboard background through a free download from Foolish Fire here. I'm so glad I had this background to work with and it really made the chalkboard idea possible! If you're interested, you can download the file yourself on their website and get creative!

    1. Yeah, well technically she was supposed to have them out already so it'd be okay, but she told me yesterday, after I had already posted this, that she hasn't even sent them out yet! She's just finishing them this weekend and sending them out tomorrow, haha. But I just told her since I already posted it, I'd wait to say anything about this post on Facebook until most people have probably gotten theirs in the mail.

Anyway, I can't wait to do more stuff too!

    3. Thank you very much, Annie!! I'm doing well, yes. Hope you are too!

I'm not on Etsy yet. It's just been a hassle getting the business aspect of it started while I'm temporarily in AZ, but I'm hoping once I get back to MI, I can just start it up right away!
