NEW WEBSITE

Sorry it's been a little quiet around here for a bit... I've actually been working really hard on a new site + it's finally live! That means, this blog (on blogspot) will no longer be used, and I will be blogging here instead. I hope you'll join me over on the new site! I'm really happy with how it turned out, and I'm looking forward to finally using Squarespace for a number of reasons. See you there!

It's been fun, blogspot... but it's time for bigger and better things!

Happy Friday!

Fun with my 50mm + some flowers for my mom

Hello all + happy Friday! Can you believe it's May already? Almost three months exactly until I get married, and I'm just like whaaaat?! So crazy how time is flying. It's both exciting + daunting, but I cannot wait to marry my best friend. Anyway, enough sap from me! How is your week going? I hope well. I'm having a pretty good week myself, and exciting too since I introduced my first rubber stamp in my shop! I'm looking to have a pretty low-key day. Might be headed to the movies tonight, not sure yet, and possibly going to Tulip Time tomorrow. I'm really hoping I can, just for a couple hours, because I would love to see all of the beautiful tulips + maybe eat a corn dog, haha!

Here are a ton of links if you're in the browsing mood this weekend! Enjoy. :)

Some pretty embarrassing photo shoots of celebrities that will haunt them forever. Ha!

50 fun things to do in Michigan this summer. Looks like a great list!

Greetings From Michigan!

Hey everyone! I'm very excited to introduce the first rubber stamp to the Whimsy + Wild shop! The idea came about because, well, I love my state! I'm sure you've seen me proclaim my love for Michigan on here before, because I really, really do love this state! It's so beautiful + has so much to offer, not to mention we are shaped like a mitten which makes us recognizable from space--way cool! There are so many different places to travel, we truly get to experience the four seasons, the people are friendly, the places to live are fantastic, + it's beautiful. Truly, truly beautiful. Enough about my state + more about this stamp!

The "Greetings from Michigan" stamp is perfect for you folks from Michigan who have friends or family outside of the state. It's great for stamping on stationery, envelopes, + packages to send some warm Michigan greetings to someone special. It's made from eco-friendly rubber + packaged inside the cutest cotton muslin drawstring bags. It's a great stamp for yourself or to gift to someone you know would love it. I'm really excited about this design for many reasons, + I'm so glad I get to finally share it with all of you! Head on over + check out more photos. I hope you like it! And for the rest of you who aren't from Michigan, I'm working on some things behind-the-scenes for everyone to love, so stay tuned! Happy Wednesday!

Happy Friday!

Late post coming at you again, for good reason though! I spent my day cleaning my room, wooh! You know, it's funny though, because it looks worse than it did when I started. Do you ever have that happen when you're cleaning a room? It's like the disaster gets worse before it can get better. It's crazy + a little bit frustrating to be honest, but I'm definitely making progress. It feels a little better. I'm thinking I might continue to clean after this post a little bit, so it feels a little less hectic for tomorrow.  I also went on two walks, one with my friend McKenzie and one with my mom. It was a really nice day out today, and I'm glad I got to take advantage of that this evening. Did you have a good Friday?

Enjoy some links if you need a little pick-me-up. :)

Kids react to (an apparent) controversial Cheerios commercial. Their reactions are awesome.

For you locals, this is the summer guide I'll be using to make my summer a little bit cooler.

A little boy's night was totally just made by a Griffins' hockey player. So cute.

Frederik Meijer Gardens

If you haven't already noticed, I'm kind of bad at blogging on time. I do things in my life, and days (or weeks) later, I'll finally post about it. So, almost two weeks ago, I ventured out to Frederik Meijer Gardens with my sister, her "little sister" (Big Brothers, Big Sisters), my brother-in-law, and my niece! It was a gorgeous day of lovely sunshine, perfect weather, and beautiful butterflies and plants.

Frederik Meijer Gardens is a pretty neat place to go. It's a national gardens, which is pretty awesome to have in town, full of beautiful flowers, sculptures, and butterflies when they are "in bloom." Have any of you ever been to these gardens before?

They also host a summer concert series, which I haven't gone to before, but it seems like a really good time. They always have really great artists lined up, and this year they have Ray LaMontagne in July. I'm not sure if I'll be going yet, but I would really love to see him perform. Ray LaMontagne is a seriously talented musician, and his song "Can I Stay" is actually our wedding song. :)

While we were there, we of course checked out their butterfly exhibit because it's really awesome to be up close + personal with those pretty creatures. I'll be honest, they kind of make me jump a little when they fly near me, but I can't get over how many of them there are + how different they all are. They're so neat looking, with all of their different markings, and it was really fun to see my 1-year-old niece react to them. You can see that in the first picture below that I took of her (one of my favorite pictures of her). It looks like she is discovering something for the first time (which she kind of is), with that look of wonder in her eyes and that tiny little smile. Makes my heart melt!

It was a really, really lovely day and I'm so glad my sister asked me if I wanted to go with them. If you've never been before, I suggest you go, especially when they have their butterflies exhibit. You won't regret it.

These pictures were edited with the awesome photoshop actions by A Beautiful Mess. The actions I used were Joan + Glow (Brighten) from The Mini Collection!
